Welcome to My Camping Outdoor Gear. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

About This Site

My Camping Outdoor Gear is a hands-on review site for car campers and camping families. We cover the gear that makes or breaks a weekend outdoors: instant cabin tents, two-burner camp stoves, rechargeable lanterns, camp chairs and hard coolers. Every review comes from using the gear on real trips, in heat, storms and cold nights, and we say plainly what did not work.

Camping Safety

Never run a propane stove, propane heater or charcoal inside a tent, camper shell or closed vehicle. These burn oxygen and produce carbon monoxide, which is odorless and can kill while you sleep. Cook outside, in open air, on a stable surface away from tent walls, dry grass and overhanging branches.

Connect and disconnect propane cylinders only when the stove is off and cool, check fittings for leaks, and store cylinders upright, outdoors and out of direct sun. Follow park fire rules and burn bans, and fully drown any fire before you leave it or go to sleep.

Stake and guy out every tent, and take shelter in a hard-sided vehicle or building during lightning or high wind: a tent offers no protection. Do not pitch in dry washes or low ground where flash floods run. In heat, carry more water than you think you need, and keep food sealed in a cooler or vehicle where bears, raccoons or other wildlife are active.

Read and follow each manufacturer's instructions and weight limits for tents, chairs and stoves. Our reviews describe our own experience and are not a substitute for those instructions or for local park and fire regulations.
